In Senegal, we dress up for any occasion including the daily short trip to the market to buy vegetables, going for a little walk at the end of the day or when we simply chill at home just because friends, relatives or neighbours may stop by and say hi at any time.
Of course, when getting dressed for the office, a night’s entertainment or our Friday wear, we take elegance to a new level. Making an effort to look presentable by wearing nice clothes is perceived as basic self-care but more importantly, it is respectful of others.
Tarunah means 'elegance' in wolof, the most spoken language in Senegal. To us, ‘elegance’ is achieved primarily through attitude, manner and of course beautiful clothes.

All our designs use exquisite handwoven fabric expertly crafted by artisans in Senegal. Using traditional techniques passed down over generations, hours or even days are spent meticulously weaving the fabric for each of our designs. This is slow fashion at its most authentic.
To make the most of this luxurious fabric, we partner with women-led pattern making and production studios in the northeast of England, bringing decades of experience in high-quality garment making.
